NEW HEADER & ARTIST’S PROFILE

What:  New Header for November:  Watercolour artist Judy Reekie, from the Peninsula Studio Trail

Judy’s interest in art began as a child,  however nothing formal was attempted until well into adulthood.

Studying with the late John Balmain brought about an awakening in the application of art.   Observations of colour, tone, perspective and composition began to make sense.   After being introduced to watercolour she discovered the magic of mixing water, pigment & paper.

Tuition from such notable watercolourists as Greg Allen, Ross Patterson, Bob Wade, Margaret Cowling, Herman Pekal & others has been an inspiration.  Judy maintains a traditional style & draws much of her inspiration from the Mornington Peninsula.

Judy’s work has received numerous art prizes including an acquisitive award from the Mornington Peninsula Shire Council for a work from the Moorooduc Paint-out exhibition project an initiative support by Peninsula Link.

Judy is the president of the Peninsula Studio Trail, a committee member of Oak Hill Gallery & the Mornington Peninsula Art Show, she also runs art classes & workshops at her Moorooduc Studio.
