A Retrospective Perspective

David ‘Drak’ Drakopoulos aka Drakson is a unique peninsula artist. He inherited much of his talent from his parents both of whom dabbled in the arts in the 60s. He was educated at Frankston Tech and graduated with a Diploma of Graphic Art from Swinburne Technical College in 1976.

Graphic design deals with a broad range of techniques and media to promote  products, events or advertising campaigns.  Drak was well respected amongst his peers and was an important character in the music industry both on the peninsula and Melbourne. Early in his career he created designs for the well-known Oke Surfboard Company, developed a radical cartoon for Daily Planet magazine and designed album covers for 70s band Madder Lake.

Having worked with a variety of media, pencil, pens, oils on timber, he is now concentrating on replicating his original designs in Giclee Print (fine art inkjet printing) making his designs affordable and accessible, he has found this technique best suits the demand of the ever changing contemporary art market.

This current exhibition reflects the early evolution of Drak’s designs to create unique one-of graphic works.  All works are for sale contact the Shire’s Cultural Planner Andrea Ebsworth on 0438 051 092/ 0447 629 628
