What:  Victorian Quilters Exhibition – One Step Further

The quilters in this exhibition are from Australia and this year the USA. The contemporary art quilts are made from silk kimonos, to hessian. Techniques include hand stitching and machine embroidery, using yarns from the finest silk to heavy string cottons. Parts have been burnt with soldering irons, painted with dyes and paints, screen printed, rusted, bleached, embellished with beads and found objects. The pieces range in size from half a metre square to two metres. This is an award exhibition with sponsorship from Brother with two top of the range Brother sewing machines awarded to each winner of the small and large quilt sections.  This year the judges were renowned members and quilters from the Victorian Quilters Association.

This exhibition is certainly not to be missed.  It is a truly beautiful and creative exhibition of Art Quilts.
