What: Join some of Australia’s most innovative marketing minds as they explore the connections of today’s arts marketers.

The 10th annual Marketing Summit of the Australia Council will take place over two days in two incredible Hobart venues – the Baha’i Centre of Learning and MONA – where the Summit will have exclusive access.

The evolution of marketing practice has been colourful, energetic, responsive and above all else dynamic. This dynamism has lead to the theme of the 2014 Marketing Summit: The Art of Connectivity. Arts marketers use connections that are organic, viral, logical, complex, and multilayered, and all necessary to sustain our industry. This Summit aims to take these connections out of the marketing plan and explore answers to two main questions:

  • why do we put so much effort into these connections? and, how do these connections actually work for us?

Discussing these questions will lead us to explore how we do this better and what the future might hold. In the tradition of the Australia Council Marketing Summit the two days will also provide arts marketers the opportunity to connect with colleagues and leaders in the sector.

As the Summit visits Hobart for the first time, we will be hosted by the Honourable Peter Underwood AC, Governor of Tasmania for a reception on the Monday evening, another wonderful opportunity to network. Keynote speakers at the Summit include Kieran Flanagan, CCO of The Impossible Institute, and Jo Verrent, a Senior Producer at UNLIMITED. Kieran will explore the trends and connections that drive the changes in our community, values, technology and our marketplace. While Jo will focus on diversity and the importance of marketers responding to their audiences. Arts Access Australia CEO Emma Bennison will join Jo to continue the conversation about diversity and to highlight some of the great work being done in the arts in Australia. Lively panel discussions with Scott Ward, CEO of Digital Infusions and Jane Huxley of Pandora, will showcase the digital platform and its many possibilities for connecting to audiences – brought to life by case studies of strategic content and creative innovation in the digital space.

Take advantage of opportunities to explore community, corporate and media connections with Kate Dezarnaulds from TEDx. Join Rachael Maza, Dr Anita Heiss and others as they illustrate how marketing above and below the line connects with a myriad of audience segments – all connections that today’s arts marketers can explore in their own marketing context.
