What: The hinterland Scarecrow Trail is annual touring event that has captured the imagination of local schools, artists, community groups and businesses who regularly participate. Now in its 8th year, the Scarecrow creations are taking on the form of recycled farmyard art celebrating this year’s theme of “Mother Nature”. Organisers are keen to point out that the hinterland Scarecrows are often a little bit quirky. The festival trail offers a broad interpretation of what is regarded as a Scarecrow with entries taking the form of animated sculptures or unusual farmyard characters. They often tell a story and reflect the creative leanings of this diverse and eclectic community.
Where: There are 27 scarecrow creations listed on the official Scarecrow Trail Map and visitors are encouraged to use the map to plan their afternoon of discovery around Red Hill, Main Ridge, Arthurs Seat, Flinders and Moorooduuc. It can take up to 3 hours to visit all of the scarecrows along the trail.
