What: Mornington Peninsula Shire is opening its new Community Placemaking grant initiative this February. Key details are outlined below for your information. New funding opportunities for Community Placemaking projects up to $5,000 (with a total of $110 000 being offered);
What is placemaking?
It is the people, places and spaces that make the Mornington Peninsula a great place to live. The community placemaking program aims to support community led initiatives that support our strategic goals, specifically:
- Enhancing public places and spaces
- A healthy and connected community
Every day place making is looking for positive ways to make things better in your community. Place making projects focus on enhancing both our social and built environments; working together to achieve these goals through partnerships with community groups and organisations.
Anyone can be a place maker. It’s a partnership of residents, visitors, property owners, businesses, Council and other agencies. By having these conversations, together we can create active local spaces and projects that bring local communities together. We want to hear about your ideas and support you to achieve them.
The purpose of the grants is to kick start a project that will make a difference to your community.
The grants are opening Monday 2 February and closing 9 March 2015.
