What: THE BEST OF AUSTRALIAN TALENT – LIVE ON STAGE AT THE SPIEGELTENT!

The ultimate, intimate live entertainment venue, home to Spiegelicious & Animalicious, the Spiegeltent will now host some of Australia’s leading performers!

The Spiegeltent is the dream of Three Palms owner James McPherson, who loves bringing the best live entertainment to the streets of Sorrento. Nearly 100 years old, the Spiegeltent is a magical venue with all the charm and grace of a bygone era, and the perfect place to present Australian talent at its best.

For almost 100 years Spiegeltents (Dutch for mirror tents) have travelled to the four corners of the globe and been used as dance halls, bars and entertainment salons. These elaborate handmade wooden and canvas structures resemble circus big tops and are adorned with velvet, brocade, stained glass and mirrors. Featuring a wooden floor encircled by glamorous dining booths, these structures are a delight to behold. There is only a handful of Spiegeltents left in the world today – and we have one of these rare beauties in the main street of Sorrento!

After a sell out season with the fabulous Spiegelicious & Animalicious shows, the Spiegeltent now has an amazing line up of Australian talent who will perform in the magical and intimate atmosphere of this very special venue.

In the winter of 2012, singer songwriter Wendy Matthews went into the Stuart Piano Factory in Newcastle with Brendan St Ledger playing piano and Greg Royal on standup bass. The trio emerged after two days with an EP of live recordings and realized they had captured a long loved, but never delved into, side of Wendy’s music history.

The circumstances they recorded in allow for an intimate and introspective translation of some classic and not so classic Billie Holiday songs, an iconic woman whose soul and music has been long admired. Wendy will perform these songs at the Spiegeltent – for one night only!
