MPAS

What: From April 1 to 6, some of the best peninsula artists will exhibit in the gallery space of the Southern Peninsula Arts Centre. The Mornington Peninsula Art Show, now in its sixth year, is becoming a key event on the local exhibition calendar.  All profits raised from the exhibition go towards the Rosebud Secondary College Chaplaincy program which offers a variety of pastoral care, and health and wellbeing programs to students.

The Mornington Peninsula Art Show is supported by Mornington Peninsula Shire, numerous local businesses, a curatorial team of local artists and dedicated volunteers.

Mornington Peninsula Shire Mayor Councillor Bev Colomb said the Shire offers an annual Art Acquisition Award as part of the Mornington Peninsula Art Show.

“The award, now valued at $2,000, is given for the best Mornington Peninsula-themed work, which contributes to a growing collection of outstanding local works that represent the cultural heritage of the Mornington Peninsula. I wish all artists the best of luck at this year’s exhibition,” she said.

Cr Colomb has chosen John’s painting to hang in her office, and future opportunities for the community to access and view the collection are being developed as part of the Shire’s Arts & Culture Strategy.

This year’s exhibition will open at 7pm on Wednesday April 1 and will be open daily between April 2 and 6.  The Southern Peninsula Arts Centre is at Rosebud Secondary College, on the corner of Eastbourne and Boneo Roads. Further details: www.mpartshow.com
