2.15pm – 2.45pm Ivan Durrant
Ivan Durrant is one of Australia’s most infamous painters and performance artists. In this floor talk, Ivan will discuss his exhibition Horsepower and his long time obsession with strength, explosive muscle, colour, reflection and movement.
2.45pm – 3.15pm Shannon Smiley
Shannon Smiley looks to the Australian suburban environment for places of enchantment. Find out about Shannon’s Wynne Prize submission Backway, Heidelberg. Shannon was the winner of contemporary landscape painting prizes the Metro Art Prize (2012) and the John Leslie Art Prize (2014).
3.30pm – 4pm Paul Borg
Paul first met Gordon Morrison, the Director of the Art Gallery of Ballarat, when he entered a drawing in the Rick Amor Drawing Prize. Paul recalls being fascinated by Gordon’s soft and silvery textured beard. Paul will discuss the relationship he developed with his sitter and how the Dusty Miller (a herbaceous perennial) plays a significant role in the painting.
