PENINSULA MUSIC SOCIETY NEWS

What: The Peninsula Music Society is back with a sensational start to our 2016 season on 19 March – the Australian Chamber Choir (24 voices) and the Melbourne Baroque Orchestra (23 musicians) will fill our hall with the glorious sound of J S Bach`s Mass in B Minor. This awe-inspiring masterwork was written towards the end of Bach’s most fertile compositional period while Director of Music at St. Thomas’ Leipzig when he composed over three hundred cantatas, the St. Matthew and St. John Passions and the Brandenburg Concertos.

The internationally acclaimed Australian Chamber Choir was created by Douglas Lawrence, its Melbourne-based conductor and organist and Director of Music at Scots’ Church.  In July 2015, the ACC undertook its fifth European concert tour, with sixteen concerts in Germany, Denmark and Switzerland and a review in Denmark was headlined ‘Australian Choir in the Super League’.  The choir has also released five CDs. This concert is a MUST and we will celebrate our season opening with a complimentary  Bittern Estate wine from 6.45pm.
