A new Best Artist Sculpture Scarecrow competition, a contemporary new brand and a festival day are being introduced to revitalise the Hinterland Scarecrow Festival and Trail, returning in peninsula hills during the September school holidays.
Artists are invited to enter an art installation with the ‘Aussie icons’ theme or can opt for a more traditional scarecrow sculpture or farmyard art, in wood, metal, fibreglass or stone – suitable for outdoors.

The 2016 $2000 acquisitive prize funded by the Shire’s Arts & Culture unit will begin a permanent sculpture trail for the hinterland region.
In addition, the Shire will assist the Hinterland Tourist Association in bringing an artistic activity for children on Festival Day coinciding with the Red Hill Market on 1 October.
