What: Join the Peninsula Writers’ Club for an inspiring talk where we are encouraged, enlightened, invigorated and just darn-tootin’ captivated by the writing journey of another. The talented Rachel Power is coming to Cakes & Ale Sorrento. This is one dinner-party style guest speaking event that will have the town talking.
Rachel Power is a freelance writer, editor and artist. She has contributed to many publications, including Mamamia, The Big Issue, Kill Your Darlings and The Age.
Rachel has been a court illustrator for Channel 9, production editor of Arena Magazine, and is currently communications manager for the Australian Education Union (Victoria). Rachel is the author of Alison Rehfisch: A Life for Art, The Divided Heart: Art and Motherhood, and Motherhood & Creativity.
For many members of the Peninsula Writers’ Club her ‘Motherhood and Creativity’ is a well-thumbed tome, and an Aussie must read for creatives struggling to find clarity and commitment to continue when juggling parenthood. We aren’t alone, and Rachel has written a powerful book to encourage us to keep creating! In addition to talking about motherhood and creativity, Rachel will talk about the process of bringing together an anthology. We know this will be just as interesting to writers who aren’t parents, and to other creatives on the Peninsula.
When: Tuesday 8 November 2016 @ 6:30pm
Where: Cakes and Ale, 102 Ocean Beach Road Sorrento (Dinner and Drinks at own expense)
There will be a book signing and sales table so we can support Rachel.
Thanks to Antipodes Bookstore for making this happen.
