Mornington Peninsula Shire Council is pleased to announce the latest recipients of the Creative Community Grants Program.  Each year a diversity of program and project ideas are received from our community groups to enrich the everyday experience for residents and visitors.  Each recipient will provide an array of opportunities for people to collaborate and build skills and abilities, foster new partnerships and build a sense of belonging.

The following groups and projects for support over the coming year are:

Australian Marine Mammal Conservation Foundation – Celebrate the Bay $5,000 – A marine themed mural celebrating Port Phillip Bay, its vibrant community and the iconic and endangered Burrunan dolphin with teaching artist Justine MacNamara with students from Rye Primary School.

Mornington Peninsula Chorale $5,000 – Inclusion of the Choir at the ‘Distinguished Concerts International New York’, Carnegie Hall, New York, USA January 2017.

Mornington Community Music Camp 2017 – Peninsula Combined Schools Band Camp $5,000 – A two day instruments & singing immersion program for peninsula students presented by professional musicians.  A final concert will be held at the PCT in July 2017.

Spark Youth Dance Company Inc RosebudContemporary dance program for children & youth $5,000 – Creation of costumes and sets for the annual concert at Frankston Art Centre

Mt Eliza Music Program  $5,000 – Mt Eliza Secondary College students will undertake training in events management, staging, production, rehearsal and public performance to build skills, confidence, connections and sense of inclusion with a community event. Support for the Rising Star initiative to support a young performer with performance and promotion skills.

Aboriginal Corporation for Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Indigenous Artists t/a Baluk Arts $5,000 – A series of workshops with peninsula Indigenous community members to create soft sculptures that will be exhibited across Victoria.

3940 Women’s Art Group $5,000 – Weekly tutored classes in life drawing with the 3940 Women’s Drawing Group that continues to strengthen social networks and sense of community in Rosebud West.

Western Port Craft Day $3620 – Local & visiting craftspeople working in unusual and heritage crafts will demonstrate and present ‘have a go’ sessions to attendees.

Community Access 2017 $4000  – To present a series of classical music and opera master classes for children as part of the Peninsula Summer Music Festival.
