To celebrate the first birthday at the Corner Youth Centre, Mornington a mosaic sign was started, visitors who attended the 19 November celebrations further added to the design.

Andrea Ebsworth has vast experience as an art teacher and public artist through the use of mosaic and will work from the centre to finish off the sign while on a break from her work with the Shire.  Andrea is keen to hear from anyone interested in learning a bit about mosaic and to help complete the project.

FAC_logo- 2012 1Blokes is a new dance work investigating the myths, truths and the stereotypes of how to be a man in our society.

Dance artists Matt Cornell and Joshua Thomson are drawing on their experiences during speed-apprenticeships with men in the extreme north and their own history growing up in outback Australia. These stories, physicality and no-nonsense approach functions in their show to make space around the notion of what it is to be a man.

Key in the artistic process is the involvement of blokes themselves – while further developing the work in Frankston, they will work with the Pine’s Men’s Shed and other community groups as they continue on their quest to capture the humour, bravado and fragility of the Aussie ‘bloke’.

When: Friday 25 November, 9.30pm
Where: Shipping container – Frankston Library Forecourt, 60 Playne Street, Frankston

The Meisner Journey- Meisner Technique basics – American acting technique- reliable technique for actors

This course focuses on acting naturally under the given circumstances (as if the scene is really happening to you. You are the character). Starting with simple basic exercises building on each one, step by step, working with repetition, listening and reacting, learning to keep focussed on your partner 100%.  Then we will be introducing physical activities, objectives, use of props, imaginary circumstances, relationship, personal specifics, emotional preps, fantasy work and more.  From basic improvisations to incorporating them into more advanced work using  short scripts, applying all of  these elements to scene and playing the part.  This course is suitable for the serious actor  – a great start for a beginner and actors with experience who are looking for a solid technique that can be applied to any role. Classes are held in a supportive environment  and a sense of humour is recommended!   Actors any level welcome.  100% commitment required. Hot off the press – read our first mini review:

“Imaginative, inventive, intelligent and highly entertaining, I Knew These People Too from RAWcollective is a complete reinvention of the theatrical experience incorporating comedy, contemporary dance, dramatic monologue, video and soundscape. The audience is invited to move from space to space observing and engaging with this unique and thought provoking show. I loved it.The wonderfully welcoming opulent surroundings of The Social provided the perfect backdrop for this production.” Andrea Louise Thomas Arts Editor, Pearl Magazine.

And here’s another fabulous review from last night’s performance: “I knew these people too is a feisty, moving performance, punctuated by heartbreaking storytelling, contemporary dance, singing and laughter. The show moves along at the perfect pace and strikes the right balance between comedy and intrigue. Brigitte Jarvis’s piece about Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome is full of emotion, yet handled with the utmost care, and Kelly Nash’s Queenie Kent is a past her prime showgirl to remember. The performances weave together seamlessly and create a lively evening to enjoy in a unique setting.” Rowena Wiseman, writer and blogger http://outofprintwriting.blogspot.com.au/ Twitter: @outaprintwriter Wattpad: @outaprintwriter
