ST PATRICK’S DAY MOTH THIS FRIDAY

Ireland’s Áine Tyrrell and Aoife Scott, together with their bands, will play an intimate St Patrick’s Day gig at MOTH, Red Hill Pavilion this coming Friday 17 March.

Áine and The Midnight Tide have built on Áine’s growing reputation as a talented live artist with appearances at major festivals including at Mullum Music Festival (NSW), Woodford Folk Festival (Qld) and Cygnet Folk Festival (Tas). Áine’s music cradles the spirit of her native homeland, growing from traditional Irish roots into a truly contemporary sound.

Aoife Scott is Irish music royalty! She will be joined by her touring band fresh from the Port Fairy Folk Festival and before appearing at other festivals around Australia. She will perform songs from her 2016 album release ‘Carry The Day’. A member of the legendary Black Family, which includes her mother Frances and her aunt Mary, Aoife is rising to the top of the traditional and folk music scene. Her sound is heavily influenced by her passion for traditional music and engaging stories.

WORKSHOP AND CABARET WITH aZz BAND

Valladolid, 23/7/2014. Azzband en la sala Porta Caeli. Foto Ricardo Otazo.

The aZzBand unites musicians from Italy, Venezuela, Spain, Australia and Germany. From jazz to tarantella, tango to fanfare, Uruguayan candombe to Argentine Murga, aZzBand interprets and mixes the music of the world.

The ensemble uses the improvisation of Jazz, attempting nonetheless to stimulate the emotions and imaginations of any type of audience: including one not entirely formed of music connoisseurs. That’s why this is not a classic Jazz Band, but an “Azz Band”. The missing “J” reveals an added quality, one that allows greater freedom of execution, and avoids the group “anchoring” itself to any particular musical genre.
