domgarrardtix2‘The Full Noise’ is a workshop and performance event specially for teenage girls. Dominique Garrard, one half of the duo, nyck, will be running a workshop for aspiring musos with a focus on performance skills, song writing and improvisation. Following the workshop will be a teen music night, where participants will get to perform on stage at the Southern Peninsula Arts Centre as part of International Women’s Day celebrations.

Dom will be staying on for the evening session to perform with those who took part in the workshop, as well as perform a few of her own songs. This event is part of A Woman’s Place International Woman’s Day Arts Festival.

MOTH INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY SHOW

IWD Poster A3 MASTER LThe 2017 Music on the Hill (MOTH) International Women’s Day Show show will be a celebration of female musical talent, with Ella Hooper, Gretta Ray, Leah Senior, Ladychoir, Gena Rose Bruce, Charm of Finches, Jessie Lloyd and the Mission Songs Project, Heidi Luckhurst, Ling Marra and special guests.

Proceeds will go to The Luke Batty Foundation, music scholarships for local students and the MOTH equipment fund. Rosie Batty, 2015 Australian of the Year will be speaking.

The show will launch a week of special events at the Southern Peninsula Arts Centre leading to International Women’s Day including ‘A Woman’s Place’ featuring Carole Patullo and Jane Bayly. More information about other events can be found here:

pcm 1 LOGOWhat: The Peninsula’s best and brightest classical musicians once again join forces with Moldavian born conductor Evgeny Chebykin to present a program of Mozart and Haydn.

Now in their third year, Peninsula Chamber Musicians have sort to reinvigorated classical music making scene on the Mornington Peninsula. Their performances are family friendly and free for all primary and secondary aged students. Their slogan of Live Local, Listen Local is intended to encourage the Peninsula community to support their local musicians and young music students. Families are encouraged to attend performances and discover the wide and varied world of classical music music.

Brilliant Australian soloist Amir Farid will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 27 on the John Tallis Foundation Schimmel Grand Piano.  Farid is no stranger to Peninsula, performing as a recitalist and soloist for Peninsula Music Society and at the Peninsula Summer Music Festival.

In 2006 Farid won the Australian National Piano Award and has been described as “a highly creative musician, a pianist of great intelligence and integrity. He brings strong musical substance to all that he does, imbuing it with his own particular experience and understanding”.

What:  Peninsula Chamber Musicians with its Artistic Director Andrew Hall and guest Conductor Ingrid Martin will proudly present a program of chamber works in the acoustically beautiful St Peters Church, Mornington.  Works to be performed include Mozart Serenade in C minor K388 for Winds, Albinoni Adagio for Strings, Beethoven Rondino for Winds and Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 3.  Now in its third year of performing, PCM particularly encourages young audiences by providing free admission for children and secondary age students.  The players also enjoy meeting the audience over refreshments after the performance.

The group will be performing Vivaldi’s energetic Concerto for Two Violins in A minor and also will be joined by Orchestra Victoria’s and Peninsula local, Anthony Pope for Haydn’s much loved Trumpet Concerto in Eb major. The orchestra will also present Beethoven’s stunning Symphony No. 7, the second movement of which was famously used in the movie The King’s Speech.
